Incident in Einsiedeln

Einsiedeln, 14 November 2024: On Thursday morning, heavy smoke developed in the heating centre of Energie Einsiedeln AG, a subsidiary of Primeo Wärme AG. No persons were in danger. The heating network had to be switched off temporarily and could be put back into operation on the redundancy system in the afternoon.

Shortly after 8 a.m., the Schwyz cantonal police received the first report of smoke. Emergency services from the police and fire brigade were quickly on site, as were experts from Primeo Energie and Energie Einsiedeln.

To contain the smoke, the contents of the woodchip plant had to be cleared out and flushed out over the course of the day. The heating network, which supplies around 30 properties, including the monastery and school buildings, was temporarily switched off. From the early afternoon, the supply was gradually resumed using a redundancy system. Investigations into the cause are ongoing.
